Total SO₂ | Test kit for Autoanalyser

Sulfur dioxide is used as a preservative in wine and there are restrictions limiting the amount that can be added in most wine producing countries. This test kit is a fast and easy way to determine the amount of free sulfur dioxide in wine samples, without the need for the laborious setup associated with traditional methods. Additionally, unlike some other commercial products this test kit does not contain formaldehyde, which is a known carcinogen.

Analytical principle

The Vintessential™ Total SO₂ test kit provides automated measurement of total sulfur dioxide concentrations in wine samples. The method is designed to improve laboratory efficiency while maintaining accurate and repeatable analytical results.

Sulfite ions react with a reduced chromogen to produce an activated blue-coloured compound. The absorbance measured at 340 nm is directly proportional to the concentration of total sulfur dioxide present in the sample.
